I was provided with the task to redesign and fix an app of my choosing. I think the Shazam app is great, there's a lot of music I probably would have never been able to find again without the app's help. However I have one big problem with it, why is there so much stuff being shoved in my face? I don’t need to know about the latest news about an artist or where they are on tour right now. So, I fixed it and prototyped my new and improved design

The current Shazam app is already well designed and clearly had a lot of thought to it. I’m not trying to re-invent Shazam, just trying to make the app nicer to use. I wanted to keep Shazam’s brand identity but give their app some new usability and remove a lot of borderline useless features.
Shazams landing page is really good. So good that I hardly changed everything. Most users are only going onto the app specifically to search for a song and a simple big button to do so helps accomplish this. All I added was a navigation bar at the bottom to help get around the app.
Next is the page that shows up when you Shazam something. Again, it is pretty good. It tells you the name of the song and the artist, how many times it has been searched for, and the album it comes from. All useful information, but it also includes some not so useful information. The official music video, highlights from other music videos that artists made, upcoming concerts. I removed what I deemed unnecessary while keeping what you actually may want to know.
The all Shazam’s page is way too big and unorganized. I made the UI smaller and only showed the most recent music you have searched for. Then I added a new tab where you can see all the music you've searched with new filtering options.
The settings page was mostly left unchanged, removed many options that aren’t features in the app and changed the look of connecting a music streaming app.
I believe that my redesign has helped make it more user friendly while keeping all the features that users may want. Overall this project was a great learning experience for making good user interfaces as well as good user experience.
